I have 36 years automotive experience in franchised dealers and independent workshops. Like many garage owners, I am a technician at heart. Over the years I have attained AEDM MOT status, Auto Electrician and completed the IMI Master Technician
After starting in the dealer network, working in technical, workshop supervision and customer facing roles, I then moved on to work for myself. I worked from a small unit buying, selling and repairing cars. Eventually I thought I would up my game and take on a new challenge.
In 2006 I bought an underperforming garage. My mission, at the time, was to change the face of the independent motor industry by improving the level of customer service. A very grand idea, but always think big, I thought! I worked hard, provided an honest service, and continued to learn - building a successful German car specialist over the following 16 years. In that time, I encountered many issues, some of which you might be experiencing today. In late 2022 I sold my business and am now focusing on helping others in the industry as an automotive business coach and mentor. I would like to enable other garage owners realise their own business ambitions.
During my garage ownership, I noticed that it could be quite a lonely existence with precious little automotive business advice, and there was no advice on selling a business. During this time I developed my BTC (Break the circle plan) and other techniques I use in coaching and mentoring.
Since starting Absolutely automotive I have not only helped garages through my mentoring plans but have also been training service advisors with dedicated front of house training.
